WEB 2.0

Web 2.0 is fun, awesome, etc. :D My new little internet obsession (where have i been!? There's web 3.0... though, really, i couldn't tell you the difference between them even after reading about web 3.0) . As if i need another one. Haha. :)

It's defined in several different ways, but you'd probably love it if you're an internet buff. However, the description from wikipedia is: "Web 2.0 refers to a perceived second-generation of Web-based services—such as social networking sites, wikis, communication tools, and folksonomies—that emphasize online collaboration and sharing among users" You may have even used it before without knowing.

go2web20 has a list of a bunch of sites that are web 2.0. Although, you won't be able to see them here (at school) I don't think. If you go to that website at home Click About (at the bottom) and, afterwards, Logos (at the top).

There's really all kinds of web 2.0 services on there, from an online word processor, to putting widgets, klips, and RSS feeds on your desktop, to loads of multimedia stuff.

Web 2.0 sites i've tried and would recommend:

Imeem.com
Klipfolio.com

more to come :)

Hey, i want that!

I was actually going to post about a celebrity look-a-like generator that i found to be humorous and interesting (for example, one of my look-a-likes was Henry Fonda. haha), but the page won't load. It is not blocked, it just won't load. :(
So anyways, I'm posting about a PVP (portable video player) I've wanted for awhile, the creative zen vision w. The thing i'm most attracted to about it is the very nice and wide 4.3" high resolution LCD. :D I have another creative product which I really like and which works nicely, so I have a sort of trust in this company. Well, I also like that the creative zen vision w has an integrated compact flash I and flash II slot. This means i could insert any SD card from any digital camera into the vision w no matter where i am, and immediately put photos on it. Which I find cool. It comes in 30gb and 60gb (more space than i personally think i'll ever need, but hey you never know) and up to 240 hours of movies can be watched on it.

Terrible hiatuses, mindless ranting, and the like.

Heroes isn't coming back on until like April 23! :/ I do not like hiatuses. Anyways, I watched Ugly Betty and Greys Anatomy last night. I thought they both were really good episodes! Betty and Henry are so cute <3 Anyways, on Greys Anatomy, George and Izzie!?! I still kinda want Izzie and Alex. Who do you guys want paired up on GA, if anyone? Maybe i'll make some greys anatomy icons and post them on here. I've made heroes and house md ones, but i post those on my LJ. I would post them here, but the image hosting site where i uploaded them is blocked by omeresa anyways. I could always upload them to a different site that's not blocked, but i'm too lazy to do that. There's like over 300 heroes ones and that just takes too much time. But, i might post some in the future! :) Not that it matters, since no one reads this. Haha. Well, barely anyone. By the way, that picture is of Peter Petrelli from heroes. Also known as Milo ventimiglia, whom played Jess on Gilmore Girls.

A neat download

Okay so I'm posting twice in one day. :)

I thought I'd post about a pretty sweet thing I downloaded about a month ago. Maybe some of you have it, maybe not. It's called ObjectDock and basically makes your desktop icons better looking and more organized (in my opinion). It's also extremely easy to set-up and pretty customizable. You can change the size of your icons and set a background color and everything -- Pretty cool.

Here's what the Publisher described it as:
"ObjectDock acts both as a task manager and a program launcher. Users can customize the look of each item on the dock and set various animation options for when the mouse rolls over an item on the dock. The program is very easy to configure."

So here's a screenshot of what my desktop looks like with it so you guys can get a close look(click the thumbnail for the full preview):

Heroes - my random thoughts on mondays episode.

Okay so Monday I watched my favorite show ever -- heroes. Great show. On Mondays at 9 and the episodes are online. Anyways, it just so happened to be one of the best episodes of the season. Someone died, but I never really cared for that character (Simone) anyways, so I wasn't torn up about it. Or surprised that she died at all, for that matter. She wasn't a huge part of the show. I did feel bad for Peter and Isaac, however, because they both loved her. Gotta say, I was completely shocked in the way she died. I never saw Isaac accidentally shooting her whilst trying to shoot Peter coming.

It was pretty sweet when Peter finally flew, but I was sad when Claude left shortly after. He better come back, because he's pretty much the funniest person on the whole show! Plus, he still needs to train Peter so he doesn't go kaboom. Speaking of Claude, I wonder why HRG is still after him even though he's already marked or such.

Hiro's a close second at funniest, though (waffles, yatta!). I'm sad Ando left, but i could see him coming back/following Hiro.

The Sylar / Mohinder scenes were great. Zachary Quinto is doing a really good job of playing Sylar, in my opinion. Mohinder's face and when he threw up was extremely funny. It sucked that Dale died so quickly, I thought she was pretty neat.

I can't wait until next week to find out more about HRG! I personally want to think he's a good guy, and I felt bad for him when Claire was yelling at him (though, granted, she had the right to considering he's had the haitian erase her, her moms, zachs, and lyles' minds). It'll be interesting to see Matt and Ted question HRG, hopefully us viewers find out some good stuff and some questions are answered.

Technology - Windows Vista

Microsoft Windows Vista Ultimate came out on Tuesday, January 30. Although it hasn't had as much hype as the new video game systems that came out, some people were still lining up early to buy a copy. This is the first time, since 1995, Microsoft has came out with a new operating system. The new system has an improved interface, with Aero graphics, a "speedy desktop search function", and many other new features (if you want to know more features, click here). However, Windows XP users aren't so quick to change yet. One man even said "every time Windows comes out it has bugs. I don't want to pay for that yet. I'll probably wait a couple of months." So, like in the past, most computer users will wait until they need a new computer to upgrade to Vista.

So, if you had the money, would you upgrade to Windows Vista? Or just wait until you need a new computer?
